Inventory Sync Issues for Multiple Locations

Live selling with Videeo for Shopify gives your shoppers an engaging and interactive buying experience. You can showcase products, highlight details such as fit, texture, and material, and provide a seamless way for customers to make a purchase. However, if you use multiple locations in Shopify, you run the risk of inventory discrepancy issues.

Videeo only syncs inventory for your default location set in Shopify. When items sell during a live show, Videeo deducts that inventory from this default location. If the inventory is not managed correctly, it can result in negative stock levels.

As a shop using Shopify and Videeo for Shopify, sometimes you might face an issue with having multiple locations set up on Shopify. For example, during a live sale, your inventory could be incorrectly deducted from a different location (e.g., location X) instead of your desired location (e.g., location Y), leading to negative inventory levels at the X location.

Here are the key points:

  • The default location in Shopify was set to X location.
  • You went live with items from your shop in Y location.
  • Inventory was being deducted from the X location instead of Y location as the default location was set to X in Shopify.

You can avoid this situation by following the below steps.

Step 1: Verify Default Location

Ensure that your default location in Shopify is correctly set to the location you go live with.

Step 2: Set Up Shipping Profiles Correctly

Configure Shopify's shipping profiles to manage inventory from multiple locations effectively. This involves setting up shipping lanes correctly to ensure the right inventory is deducted during checkout. Follow Shopify’s guide on Managing Fulfillment Locations.

Step 3: Check Inventory Configuration for Live Sales

For live sales, Videeo will only sync inventory for the default location. Ensure that the items sold during the live show are available in this location. If items have inventory in multiple locations, make sure the inventory is distributed correctly to avoid showing incorrect stock levels during live sales.

Step 4: Use Shopify’s Native Features for Local Pickup

If offering local pickup, use Shopify's native local pickup feature to manage inventory across different locations efficiently.

By setting the correct default location in Shopify and configuring shipping profiles accurately, you can avoid inventory sync issues and ensure smooth operations during live sales. This approach ensures that inventory is deducted from the correct location, preventing negative stock levels and improving overall inventory management.

For shops using Dropship Products, we recommend you ensure dropshipping products show inventory in both locations if they need to be displayed on the mobile app and understand that the decrementing of inventory from the correct location is controlled by Shopify's backend settings for shipping lanes.

By following these guidelines, you can effectively manage your inventory across multiple locations and prevent issues related to incorrect inventory deductions.
