Promote Your Live Sales to Shoppers and Followers

Need to get the word out about an upcoming live sale? We’ve got a list of ways you can hype up and let your shoppers and followers know when and where to tune in.

Marketing your first live sale (or any live sale!) is just as important as setting up your tech, picking which products to sell, and planning what to say. Your goal should be to build awareness and anticipation for your live shopping event through social media and traditional marketing.

We recommend using the below plan as a framework for promoting your lives sales, but especially as a checklist for the launch of the live selling/live shopping experience with your brand. While these are our recommendations, you don't have to complete every task. Use the ideas that make the most sense for your brand and audience.

One Week Before Your First Live Sale

  • Schedule your Facebook and Instagram live event. Create a scheduled live event with a keyword-driven title, description, promotional image, theme, and link to your Live Shopping page.
  • Use Instagram and Facebook Posts/Reels to announce live events. Create and post a promotional image or Reel on Facebook and Instagram with the date, time, & theme of the event.
  • Use Instagram and Facebook stories to drive RSVPs. Share the promotional image or Reel in your Facebook and Instagram Story.
      • For Instagram, be sure to include the Schedule Event sticker with a call to action to opt-in to notifications about your upcoming live event.
  • Send out an email blast. Create and send out a promotional email announcing your live event with the date, time, and theme of the event.
  • Create a promotional banner with your live event details. Add the banner to your website homepage, email newsletter, live landing page, and Facebook page.

Week of Your Live Sale

  • Promote your live event on social and encourage email or SMS sign ups. Post a Facebook and Instagram Story with imagery, graphics, and/or a video of your host speaking directly to the audience. Hype up the sale and encourage viewers to sign up for email and SMS reminders.
      • Use a link sticker and link to your website email/SMS sign-up page or to a sign-up on your live landing page.
      • Bonus! Once subscribed, you'll be able to email or text subscribers about future live sales and events.
  • Post a promo image on Facebook and Instagram. Design creative Reels or Stories with trending audio that includes the date, time, and theme of the live sale.
  • Engage directly with your followers. Ask your Facebook and Instagram followers what type of products they want to see during the live event.

Day Before Your Live Sale

  • Post a live event reminder on your Facebook and Instagram stories. Design creative Reels or Stories with trending audio that includes the date, time, and theme of the live sale.
  • Send email and SMS reminders for the live sale event. Make sure to include the date, time, and theme of the event!
      • Get creative and add GIFs to your SMS message or emojis!

Day of Your Live Sale

Before You Go Live

  • Engage with your audiences on Facebook and Instagram. Answer any DMs, respond to comments, and like follower comments. This not only gets followers on your page or account right before you go live, it also boosts your visibility in the algorithms.
  • Post an engagement post on Facebook and Instagram. Post something that will encourage follower interaction. The post doesn't have to be related to the live sale event—just something that gets followers engaged.
      • Review your Social Insights on Facebook and Instagram to see what type of posts receive the highest engagement, then post something similar.

When You Go Live

  • Post on social media, "We're LIVE! Come shop and chat with us!". If you're live on Facebook and/or Instagram, post and tell shoppers to tune in!
      • For Instagram, let your followers know they can tap your profile picture to join the live!

      • For Facebook, followers should see your live event right on your Facebook page.
  • Send our email and/or SMS alerts. Send out a message and include the link to your Live Shopping page. It's the quickest way to get a shopper to your live and provides an amazing live shopping experience.

After a Live Sale

  • Showcase top products or almost sold-out products on social. Let shoppers know these products were the most popular, that they flew off the shelves, and why. It's a great way to create FOMO and drive sales with those followers who missed the event.
      • Include a link sticker in your Instagram story to take shoppers directly to the product page on your website.

  • Post a replay of the live sale on your Instagram profile. Instagram won't automatically add the replay to your grid or profile, but you can go in and post it yourself.
      • Pin the replay to the top of your Instagram grid so it's one of the first things a follower sees when they visit your profile.
  • Post an "In Case You Missed It!" Facebook and/or Instagram story. Let shoppers know they can shop the replay and include a link to your Live Shopping page.
