Manage Product Inventory Count on Your Mobile App

Ever wondered how displaying limited inventory can boost sales? Learn how controlling visible stock numbers on the mobile app can create urgency and enhance the shopping experience.

By displaying limited stock availability on the mobile app, you can create urgency among shoppers, prompting quicker purchase decisions and reducing abandoned carts. This strategy also helps manage customer expectations, minimizing disappointment and complaints if an item becomes temporarily unavailable.

Highlighting low stock numbers can make products seem more popular, driving increased interest and sales. Additionally, you can leverage this approach during promotions to make deals appear more attractive, encouraging shoppers to act fast and buy.

When shoppers see limited stock, they experience a heightened sense of urgency and exclusivity, making the shopping experience more engaging and dynamic. This perceived scarcity can lead to quicker decision-making, as shoppers feel compelled to act fast to secure the items they want.

Set a Limit to Inventory Count

  1. Navigate to your Shopify dashboard.
  2. Select Videeo: Mobile Commerce under Sales Channels from the side menu.
  3. Select the green Manage Mobile App button under the Build Your Branded Mobile App card.
  4. Select the Appearance tab from the options at the top of the page. You will see the inventory count is set to 10 by default.
  5. Adjust the Quantity you want to display to your shoppers on the mobile app.
  6. Deselect the Enable this setting to show limited inventory count on product description page checkbox to completely hide the inventory count.
    • Note: If the checkbox is deselected, the inventory count will be completely hidden. Shoppers will only see Available on the product and variants, while the quantity selector will be limited to a maximum of five units.
  7. Once done, select Save at the top bar of the page.

That’s it! Your shoppers will now only see the inventory count you choose to display, creating a sense of urgency and exclusivity in their shopping experience.

For Products Without Variants

You can set or hide a high inventory count to be displayed to shoppers on the mobile app instead of showing the actual count.
For example, the total count of the inventory in the shop is 100 but the inventory count set to display to the shoppers is 10.

This is how your shoppers will experience it in the app.

For Products With Multiple Variants

  • Variants with a higher inventory count than the set maximum limit will display as Available in the variant selector and display the maximum number in the quantity selector.
  • Variants with a lower inventory count than the set maximum limit will show the actual count in both the variant and quantity selectors.

Note that the maximum inventory limit to display in the mobile app is set to 9 in Shopify.
